Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan
Shiekh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan became the president of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Abu Dhabi in 2004. He had been the prime minister of Abu Dhabi and minister of defence and finance since 1971, after becoming crown prince in 1969. Over the following years he held several senior posts in government including deputy prime minister of the UAE and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
