Carl Gershman
Carl Gershman is president of the National Endowment for Democracy, a private organisation supported by the US Congress with the mission to strengthen democratic institutions around the world through non-governmental efforts. Previously, he was senior counsellor to the United States Representative to the United Nations, and also alternate representative of the United States to the UN Security Council. He also served as lead consultant to the National Bipartisan Commission on Central America. He has been a resident scholar at Freedom House and executive director of Social Democrats, USA.
